9-5-05 Park Forest (IL) Scenic 10 Mile - Photo Gallery

1. After passing the four-mile mark in 18:38, it became a two man battle for the men's title between Kenya's Reuben Chebii (#34) and Ethiopia's Alene Emere (#8).

2. Early in the race, the women's lead pack was tightly bunched, containing Kenya's Teresa Wanjiku (#62), Russia's Ilona Barvanova (#64), and local favorite Jenny Spangler (#61) from Lake Villa, IL.

3. Eventual women's champion Tatyana Chulakh (#63) gradually increased the pace of the lead women's pack along with South Korea's Kung Hee Lym (#67).

4. The runner's were spurred on by several musical acts on the course, perhaps most famously, the string quartet in the woods.

5. Emere waited until less than a mile to go before surging ahead of Chebii for the win, breaking the finish tape in 47:24. Chebii wound up 12 seconds back.

6. Over the final three miles, Chulakh pulled away for a 16 win over Wanjiku, crossing the line in 55:37. Chulakh's victory marked her third in as many weeks (America's Finest City Half and Parkersburg Half).
