10-16-04 Pumpkins in the Park 5K Photo Gallery (Chicago, IL)

1. This little runner took the race name literally and dressed up as a pumpkin....in the park.

2. The banana and the bunch of grapes, though out of contention for the overall title, were in the running for the "best costume" award.

3. Chicago's Nick Madsen, who sported orange shorts for the occasion, was the overall winner in 16:10.

4. Sally Chappell from Santa Fe, NM, ran 20:34 to finish as the first female. She was in town visiting her father who lives in Lake Forest.

5. From a distance, some thought the ballerina on the right was the first female finsiher. Upon closer review, nope, just a guy in a brave costume.

6. The Pumpkins in the Park 5K was a hair-raising experience.

7. Pumpkin painting kept the kids entertained.

8. The race attracted all kinds, including the King (or Queen?) of the Jungle and the King of the Sea.

9. Even Mother Superior needs to re-hydrate after running a 5K
