Eventual winner Brian Sell from Rochester Hills, MI., took control of the race early, flanked by his Hansons teammates. 5. Even though St. Patrick's Day had already come and gone, runners were still in the holiday spirit. 6. Sell crossed the line in 23:31, winning his first LaSalle Bank Shamrock Shuffle. 7. 20- year-old Russian Tatyana Chulakh won the women's race in 25:56. 8. Mike Farrell from Marshal, IL, was the surprise runner-up in 23:46, and the first Illinois finisher. 9. Course-record holder Canadian Kathy Butler finished second in 26:09. 10. Local favorite Jenny Spangler used the race as a tune-up for the Olympic Trials Marathon, finishing 4th in 27:33.
