1. The race venue of Soldier Field was the perfect back drop to
pay tribute to the flag and the U.S. Armed Forces on Memorial Day
Weekend at Fleet Feet's Soldier Field 10-Mile.
2. Chicago's Donnie Franzen, 26, was the top overall finisher,
cruising the lakefront course in 52:41, and earning the title of USATF-
Illinois 10-Mile Champion.
3. Morton Grove's Dorothy Gach, 33, took home the
women's
title and the USATF-Illinois 10-Mile Championship in a time
of 1:03:41.
4. In total, more than 2,600 runners kicked off Memorial Day
Weekend with the 10-mile run, and were treated to a near-perfect spring
morning.
5. The Soldier Field 10-Mile offers runners a chance
to fulfill a
fantasy---running out through the stadium tunnel and onto
the football
field, watching themselves on the jumbo-tron and finishing
on the 50-yard-line.
6. The top three men's finishers, from left to right: Jeremy Borling
of Chicago (55:05), Greg Costello of Riverwoods (54:22) and Donnie
Franzen.
7. The top three women's finishers, from left to right: Stella
Schulte of Chicago (1:07:50), Dorothy Gach and Kimberly Weidman of
Chicago (1:06:35).
8. The crew from Equinox was on hand to limber up participants
after the race so they wouldn't have to limp around for the remainder of
the holiday weekend.
9. Fleet Feet's Sabra Bederka enjoys a cup of
Stewart's coffee before the runner's get back into the
stadium.
