6-11-05 Steamboat Classic 4 Mile and 15K - Photo Gallery (Peoria, IL)

1. Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich accepts bib #40 (he's the 40th governor) from Steamboat Elite Athlete Coordinator and USATF Men's LDR Chair, Glenn Latimer (L) and Race Director, Philip Lockwood (R).

2. Many regarded Kenya's Shadrack Kosgei as the pre-race favorite, and he proved those people right by winning the 4-mile race in a time of 17:45 (an average of 4:27 per mile).

3. Romania's Constantina Tomescu-Dita, the 2004 LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon champion, won the closely contested women's race in 20:47.

4. Right on Tomescu-Dita's heels was runner-up Sylvia Mosqueda of Los Angeles (20:52) and third place finisher Blake Russell of San Jose (20:53).

5. Even with the added drag of a pirate cap, the final half-mile rolls downhill and accelarates runners to the finish line.

6. Local Congressman Ray LaHood of Peoria ran the 4-mile race and finished in a respectable 45:51.

7. The "Big Three" from the Brooks Hansons Distance Project ran away with the 15K title. From left to right, Brian Sell, Trent Briney and Clint Verran, all registered 50:19 for the challenging course.

8. Abigail Nelkie from West Branch, MI, who runs for North Carolina State, was the top women's finisher in the 15K, clocking 1:00:39.

9. Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich conquered the 15K course in a time of 1:20:54.

10. Chicago's Bridget Sullivan (L) ran 1:05:19, good for fourth place in the 15K. Her twin sister Anne (R), also of Chicago, ran the 4-mile in 28:43.
