10-30-05 Trick or Treat Trot 5K & 10K Photo Gallery (Chicago, IL)

1. The Trick or Treat Trot is a great family event where many parents and their children get a running start into the Halloween holiday. This year's 5K and 10K races attracted more than 2,300 finishers combined including a large group from Girls on the Run.

2. The overall 5K winner was Matt Wallace, 23, of Wheeling. His finish time of 16:07 was impressive on a warm but windy day.

3. Jennifer Goebel (left) and Andrea Minter were the top two 5K female finishers. Goebel's time of 19:11 was only three seconds faster than Minter. Their friendly rivalry dates back to last year's race, when Minter finished just a few seconds ahead of Goebel for the victory.

4. Brian Harrington and Federico Alvarez, both of Chicago, finished the 5K side by side dressed as pumpkins in 29:12 and 29:13, respectively. After the race, Federico said he thought he might have lost five pounds of sweat inside the costume.

5. Thank goodness Larry Banaszak of Darien was not part of the official stand-by medical personel, but "the nurse" did finish the 5K in 38:32.

6. Regin Igloria, aka "The Hoopster", hoola-hooped the entire 5K course in 36:14, only losing his rhythm a couple times. After the race, he futher proved his hoola competence by leisurely reading Chicago Athlete Magazine.

7. The Schlitz five-pack of Kate Tomcek, Andrea Tartero, Matt Klenk, Jason Orloff, and Kate Lockwood finished the 5K together in 37:41. The group was also the run-away favorite in winning the costume competition.

8. The Monster Mash Kids Dashes were a big hit. Some kids were just out to enjoy the sprint races, while others (guess who?) were poised for the competition.

9. Almost 800 girls, friends and family members ran the race on behalf of Girls on the Run-Chicago (GOTR). Jasmine Christian, 11 from Chicago, (#1776) is all smiles as she finishes the 5K with a friend.

10. Jack Carpenter, 10, from Park Ridge, just started running this past summer, but by the looks of it he's got a bright future ahead of him.
