Team 20/20 Rally to Feature Brock, Higdon

A Prevent Blindness America TEAM 20/20 Rally at 6:30 p.m. on Monday,
July 31 will feature special guest speakers Joan Brock and Hal Higdon,
who are teaming up to inspire people to run a marathon to help prevent
blindness.
The rally, which will be held at the Hotel Sofitel in Rosemont, IL,
is an opportunity to learn more about the TEAM 20/20 marathon training
program which includes free personal training and an all-expenses paid
trip to Bermuda.
Prevent Blindness America's Team 20/20 members will train for the
ultimate goal of running a marathon, with each stride helping to save the
valuable eyesight of another person. Runners who raise $3500 in donations
and corporate sponsorships will be eligible to compete in the Bermuda
Marathon in January 2001.
Joan Brock, TEAM 20/20's national spokesperson, lost her eyesight at age
32 due to macular degeneration. She is the author of "More Than Meets the
Eye," and has been sharing her uplifting story of courage, perseverance,
and hope to audiences around the world, including the NBC Today Show.
Hal Higdon, TEAM 20/20's National Advisory Committee Member, is an
accomplished runner, writer and trainer. He is known for his insightful
articles on training and racing in Runner's World and has published a
variety of works including his recent running books "Boston: A Century of
Running," "Hal Higdon's How To Train" and "Hal Higdon's Smart Running."
He also co-directs a Chicago Area Runner's Association training class
for the LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon.
