     The Nike Women's Triathlon, a new sprint-distance (.75K swim-20K bike
5K run) event, is coming to town on Sunday, Aug. 5.  The 8 a.m. race in
Manteno will have a cap of 1,000 participants, will feature warm water and
have a flat racing course.
     The swim venue and transition area will be at Lake Manteno, southwest
of the city.  According to Bruce Palmer of Performance Marketing, which is
producing the event.  Palmer said the swim venue is at a private club and
features a good-sized beach.  "The water is clean and clear," he said.
     Entry fee will be $40 with online registration available through www.signmeupsports.com.
     In association with the new race, clinics will be offered on May 11 at
6:30 p.m. at Nike Town, 669 N. Michigan, and at 8 a.m. on May 12 at Green
Garden Country Club, 9511 W. Manhattan-Monee Rd., Manteno.
