Chicago Spring 50K Lures Ultra Crowd on April 6
April 2002

NOTE: REVISED STARTING TIME.

The third annual Chicago Lakefront 50K/George Cheung Memorial Race on April 6 is expecting a starting field of about 140 runners, race director Stuart Schulman said in mid-March. He noted that the race's size would be about the same as last year's, but might have a higher percentage of out-of-state participants.

The race starts and finishes next to the Foster Ave. Beach House in north Lincoln Park. Chicago's spring ultra is a three-lap race with the south turnaround coming just north of North Ave. The recertified course has been altered slightly, with about 50 feet added to each lap.

After Dave Dunham of Bradford, MA, won last year in what would have been a U.S. 50K road record of 2:57:36, the course was found to be approximately 150 feet short when it was remeasured for USATF record validation.

Registration opens at 7 a.m. Race time is 8 a.m. There is a seven-hour time limit. For information, call 773-477-9112, e-mail info@chicagoultra.org or go to www.chicagoultra.org.
