A fast, fun 5-miler is on tap for the north lakefront Sunday morning at 8 a.m. The "5 Alive 5," presented by Universal Sole and Mizuno, will begin and end at the Montrose Beach House.

The race is a benefit for the 5 Alive Track Club, an inner city youth track program, and the Chicago United Runners.

"We expect a couple hundred runners," said Paul Peters, owner at Universal Sole. He added he expects the race to grow in future years. It is the only race in the city this weekend.

The top three male and female finishers will receive merchandise awards. The top three in each of 12 age groups also will receive merchandise.

Entry is $25 per runner and can be done at Universal Sole, 3352 N. Paulina. Race day registration will be $30. Call (773) 868-0893 for more information.
