From press release
May 30, 2007
Chicago Athlete

Stop by one of five Chicago Bike to Work Week Commuter Stations the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation will set up along major routes June 11 to 15 and enjoy refreshments, freebees and raffles, plus bike maintenance checkups by a professional mechanic.

"These stations are open to the bicycling public and offer support like maps, liquids and reading materials about riding in traffic, parking your bike and using your bike more," said Chicagoland Bicycle Federation Executive Director Rob Sadowsky. "We'll also have Mayor Daley's Bicycling Ambassadors on hand to perform helmet-fittings and answer questions.

"Bike to Work Week Commuter Stations provide support and resources for bicyclists at all levels of experience. And it's a good way to meet other bicycling commuters," Sadowsky said.

Bike to Work week is June 10 to 15 in the Chicago area. Click here to learn how to sign up your company for the Commuter Challenge.

Stations will operate from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m.:
Monday, June 11 - North Lakefront Trail at the North Avenue Chess Pavilion
Tuesday, June 12 - South Lakefront Trail at 31st Street
Wednesday, June 13 - Lincoln and Wells avenues
Thursday, June 14 - Milwaukee and Chicago avenues, in the Subway parking lot
Friday, June 15 - 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Daley Plaza (Bike to Work Day Rally)

The week concludes with the City of Chicago's massive Bike to Work Week rally in Daley Plaza and Mayor Richard M. Daley's annual address on bicycling in Chicago.

For the first year, the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation also hosts Bike to Work Week Commuter Stations at DuPage County Metra stations: Hinsdale (June 11), Glen Ellyn and Lombard (June 12), Downers Grove and Villa Park (June 13), Wheaton (June 14), and Elmhurst (June 15).

The non-profit Chicagoland Bicycle Federation has worked for more than 20 years to engage people in bicycling, encourage activity, increase traffic safety, and design a world-class bicycle facilities network. The Chicagoland Bicycle Federation is North America's largest bicycling and pedestrian advocacy organization, supported by nearly 6,000 members, more than 1,000 volunteers and 35 full- and part-time staff.
