How can we get more people to bicycle in Chicago? What
should the city's
vision be for bicycling for the next ten years?
The Chicago Department of Transportation invites
suggestions at a public
meeting on the Bike 2010 Plan. This bicycling master plan
will address all
aspects of bicycling in Chicago, from connecting and
improving the city's
bikeways, to promoting and encouraging bicycling.
Chicago Bike 2010 Plan
The Kickoff Public Meeting will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m.,
Thursday, May 23, at the Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington
St., 5th Floor.
Suggestions from cyclists and non-cyclists are welcome.
This project will
build on the success of the Bike 2000 Plan, prepared by
Mayor Daley's
Bicycle Advisory Council in 1992.
Questions that will be considered at the meeting include:
- How can Chicago's network of bike paths, lanes and
routes be improved?
- What new ways can city agencies encourage bicycling?
- What's the role of law enforcement in encouraging people
to share the
road?
- How can we improve cycling for youth and other groups?
