Michael Fleming, a sixth-grader from Lincolnshire, Ill., captured the title of International Free Throw Champion at the Small Fry Basketball Tournament held on April 20, 2006 at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida. Fleming nailed 43 out of 44 free throws at the competition.

The free throw championship is one of the many events at the 38th International Small Fry Basketball Tournament. The 2006 event, held April 16 to 21, featured 32 teams from United States and Puerto Rico. Small Fry is a competitive basketball program for boys and girls no older than age 13 and no taller than 5'1".

Fleming plays guard for "Highwood Heat" under the guidance of Head Coach Vern Reich of Highland Park, Illinois. Fleming attributes his passion for basketball to Coach Reich and to his trainer, Jeff Pagliocca of Pagliocca Training.

The Highwood Small Fry organization, based in Highwood, Illinois, is considered one of the premier groups in the Small Fry Basketball league. Highwood has competed in the Small Fry Basketball championship game seven times and won three times: 1997, 1998 and 1999.
