Chicago Athlete

REQUIREMENTS: MEN - Sub 5-minutes; WOMEN - Sub 5:45
Fast runners interested in making some money and receiving gift certificates are urged to enter Saturday's Fleet Feet Mile Invitational at Concordia College in River Forest.

The mile race is scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 5, and will follow the Community Bank 5K Community Run/Walk (Makin' Tracks).

Any runners interested in participating should contact race director Gregory Evans at 630-327-1619 or by e-mail at gregevanslogic@msn.com.

The field will include up to 16 men and 16 women. As of now, there are plenty of openings in both divisions. The women's field is led for now by Gloria Iverson. The men's field includes Jeremy Parks, Dan Mayer, Lars Juhl, Kevin Temple, Emisael Favela and Vic Heckler, the former CARA president, who is after a record or two in the 60-64 age group.

Prize money/Fleet Feet gift certificate combos of $500, $175 and $85 are being offered to the top three finishers in each gender.
