Greg Costello (pictured left) won the Fleet Feet Sports Soldier Field 10 Mile in 50:53, setting a new course record by breaking Mark Reed's 2004 time of 51:46. Fellow Chicago resident Robbie Wade placed second in 51:11 and two-time Soldier Field Champion Donnie Franzen took third with 51:43.

Jessica Langford from Rockford won the women's competition in 58:22. It was the first time a woman had finished the course in under one hour. Dana Coons placed second in 59:44, and 42-year-old Ann Schaefers- Coles of Cary placed third in 1:02:07.

The May 26 Soldier Field 10 Mile was the USATF Illinois Championship race and offered a prize purse of $2,000.

More than 4,200 runners finished the 10-mile race, which sold out in early April. Runners finished on the 50-yard line of Soldier Field and had their image dispalyed on the jumbotron as they strided onto the field. The course ran along the south Lakefront Path.

Beneficiaries included the Veteran's Assistance Commission of Cook County and the FitMatters Program at LaRabida Children's Hospital.
