Four United States Masters Swimming national records
fell at the Illinois Masters Short-Course State
Championships the weekend of April 22. 80-year-old Thomas Maine of Saluki Masters in Carbondale
broke his own
national record in the 200-yard butterfly touching in 3:25.55.
This is
Maines third time breaking the record in 2006. His previous
record was
3:29.17. 36-year-old Vlad
Pyshnenko, swimming unattatched, swam to an amazing
0:45.32 in the 100-yard freestyle beating Ron Karnaugh's
previous record of 0:46.04. A short time later four extremely
fast women representing Team Illinois Masters swam to a
USMS National Record in the 35+ Medley Relay. Andrea
Block, Jennifer Ridge, Liz Dillmann and Nadine Day
(pictured) blazed to a 4:01.72, beating the old mark of
4:07.99 by San Diego Masters. A fourth national record was
broken in the 35+ Mixed Freestyle Relay during Saturdy's
competition which featured Ron Kurza, Liz Dillmann, Nadine
Day, and Matt Keller. Click here to view the photo gallery from
