More than 1,600 women finished the Subaru Women's Triathlon in Naperville. The race drew a diverse group of women of all ages and ability levels. Naperville native Jennifer Garrison won in 1:06:09, five minutes ahead of the second-place finisher. For the most part, though, the race was less about competition and more about encouragement and meeting personal challenges. Families and friends cheered on each of the 30 swim waves with a roar of shouts and applause, children cheered on parents with shouts of "Go, Mommy!" and many of the racers crossed the finish line with giant smiles on their faces and their arms raised in victory.
