BULLETIN-FRIDAY, Aug. 3. Lake Michigan is not suitable for swimming because of
Thursday's heavy rainfall, and Swim Across america has
been moved to Portage Park, 4100 N. Long, Chicago. The
facility includes a 50-meter pool and a 25-meter diving pool.

Exit at Irving Park Road
Go West approximatley 4 miles
Registration will begin a little earlier - than originally
scheduled - approximately 6:30 a.m.

The miles you swim this Saturday could mean the
beginning of the end for some forms of cancer.
The eighth annual Swim Across America Lake Michigan
Relay Swim returns to the shores of Chicago this Saturday,
Aug. 4. Three U.S. Olympic medalists will join 200-300 other
swimmers in the charity relay events that raises funds for
cancer research.
Swim Across America's Chicago stop is a six-mile relay
on a one-mile loop course based at Ohio Street Beach.
Teams may consist of up to six swimmers, but individuals
are allowed to swim the entire distance. There is a pledge
requirement of $1,200 per team or $200 per swimmer that
must be collected by Aug. 4. All proceeds from the Chicago
race benefit the Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center at Loyola
University.
Joining the teams for the last mile of the race will be B.J.
Bedford, leader of the world-record-breaking 2000 U.S.
Olympic 400-meter medley relay; Rowdy Gaines, three-time
gold medal winner in the 1984 games and a national
broadcast commentator; and Janel Jorgensen, a silver
medal winner in the 1988 Games.
