Off-road running is growing in the Chicago area. The Runner's Edge in Wilmette and Universal Sole in Chicago have teamed up to form a four-race Chicagoland Trail Series this year.

The events are the Earth Day Shuffle Trail Run on April 21 at LaBagh Woods, Rock 'N Sole Trail Challenge on July 28 at Pulaski Woods, Lakewood Trail Challenge on Nov. 3 at Lakewood Forest Preserve near Wauconda and the Rock 'N Sole Trail Challenge II on Nov. 17 at Schiller Woods.
