Wacker Drive Is Done 5K Run, Sunday, Nov. 10

The Wacker Drive is Done 5K Run will be held at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10 in celebration of the completion of the Wacker Drive restoration project.

After undergoing 21 months of reconstruction, the upper and lower decks of Wacker Drive between Michigan Ave. and Randolph St. will be open to accommodate this special event.

In addition to the 5K run, the City of Chicago is hosting a 5K walk immediately after the run and Kids' Dashes beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Entry for the 5K run is $25 until Nov. 9, then $30 the day of the race. Entry for the 5K walk is $12 until Nov. 9, $15 day of. Children 12 and under walk for free or can register on-site for the kids' dashes between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m.

Approximately 2,000 runners are expected to participate, so runners are encouraged to register early and attend a packet pick-up before race day. Register online at wwww.signmeupsports.com for a $2 discount. Race day registration takes place at the Renaissance Hotel at Wacker and State from 7 to 8:30 a.m. on the 2nd floor in the Cuisine's Cafe.

Participants can register in person and pick up their packets at the Renaissance Hotel on Nov. 8 between noon and 6 p.m.; Nov. 9 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.; and Nov. 10 between 7 and 8:30 a.m.

Dri-Release long-sleeved shirts will be given to the first 1,000 runners to register. Trophies will be awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers, and prizes will be awarded to all participants in the kids' dashes.

The Mayor's Office of Special Events will host a post-race party at the Renaissance Hotel ballroom after the race. Music, refreshments, a raffle, and the Jesse White Tumblers will round out this post-race celebration.
