Athletes By Design (ABD) presents this event in
connection
with
their Indoor Time Trials Event. A new special attraction will be held Saturday at the Subaru
Chicago Bike Show at Navy Pier. "Chicago's Bravest" takes
on "Chicago's Finest" for a team test of speed and stamina
on a
simulated course featuring no wind, hills, snow or traffic.
Five members from each the Fire and Police Departments
will
compete for a ten-minute period to claim a $1,000 donation
sponsored by Subaru to benefit the Lance Armstrong
Foundation
made in their department's honor.
The inaugural event will begin at 1 p.m., and will run in
conjunction with ABD's Indoor Time Trial Series Race #5,
where
cyclists of all abilities can test their talent on a 10km
course.
"We're thrilled to have the support of both the Chicago Fire
and Police Departments in this friendly competition to help
promote cycling while benefiting Lance Armstrong's Cancer
Foundation", stated event organizer and ABD Club Member
Lori
Miller. "We applaud the efforts of these great sports who
donated their time and pedal power, literally sweating for a
cause."
Come down and cheer on your favorite team, as each
member's
mileage counts towards the team total. If you'd like to
participate in a time trial yourself, call Mike Ebert at 630-
890-6767 to obtain a slot, or you can simply stop by the ABD
Booth area to test a simulated course without competitive
pressure.
