Come out and join the July 4th celebration complete with an old- fashioned American Family All-American picnic. Perfect for marathon training, the event now offers a 10 mile run, plus a 5K run, 5K walk and traditional junior dashes for youngsters 2 to 14 years.

The event takes place in Lincoln Park (2500 North Cannon Drive) just north of Fullerton Ave., on the running path between Fullerton and Diversey.

The American Heart Association is the official charity of the All-American Run and the largest non-profit health organization fighting heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases.

The post race celebration starts at 8:30 a.m. with a picnic in the park followed by the 5K and the 10 mile run awards and event raffle. Entry fees for the run/walk are $20 at your local American Family Insurance office, $25 by mail or at Fleet Feet Sports and $30 on race day (cash only). Packet pick-up can be done at Fleet Feet Sports (4555 N. Lincoln) on Wednesday, June 30, from 12 to 8 p.m., and on Thursday, July 1, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Also, at Fleet Feet Sports (210 W. North Ave.) on Friday, July 2, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., or Saturday, July 3, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
