Back by popular demand, the 2nd Annual "Celebrity Cycling
Challenge" presented by Athletes By Design (ABD) will be
held Saturday, April 2 at the Chicago Bike
Show at Navy Pier. "Chicago's Bravest" takes on "Chicago's
Finest" for a team test of speed and stamina on stationery
bicycles on a simulated course featuring no wind, hills,
snow, or traffic!
Five members from each of the Chicago Fire and Police
Departments will compete for a ten-minute period to claim
title to a $1,250 donation sponsored by The LaSalle Bank to
benefit the Lance Armstrong Foundation made in their
department's honor.
"This is a great cause for our City's Departments to come
together and support the Lance Armstrong Foundation and
we're glad to be a part of it, " stated Commander Ron
Dornecker, the team captain for the Chicago Fire
Department.
Sergeant Mike Murphy, team captain with the
Chicago Police Department agrees, and adds "We're
looking forward giving the Chicago Fire Department a
challenge and taking the title this year".
"We're thrilled to again have the support of both the
Chicago Fire and Police Departments in this friendly
competition to help promote cycling while benefiting Lance
Armstrong's Cancer Foundation," said event organizer and
ABD Club Member Lori Miller. "We applaud the efforts of
these great sports who donated their time and pedal power,
literally sweating for a cause."
This event will begin at 1 p.m., and will run in conjunction
with ABD's Indoor Time Trial Series Race #5, where cyclists
of all abilities can test their talent on a 10K course. Come
down and cheer on your favorite team, as each member's
mileage counts towards the team total. For more
