Get your employees and colleagues to commute by bike during Bike to
Work Week June 9 to 15. Your company or organization can compete
with others for prizes and prestige throughout the week in the Commuter
Challenge, a fun and healthy team-building event hosted by the
Chicagoland Bicycle Federation.
"Active employees means happier and healthier workers, which helps
save money," said Randy Warren, program specialist at the
Chicagoland Bicycle Federation. "They arrive at work more alert and
invigorated than those who are perhaps worn down by rush hour
congestion."
The Commuter Challenge is also a good way to help reinforce or build
team spirit in the workplace. Team leaders report how much each team
member rides during Bike to Work Week. Teams are categorized by
number of employees and by type, i.e. public agency, business, non-
profit and bicycling-related business.
The Chicagoland Bicycle Federation gives each company or
organization team member an online coupon code to save on
registration for the Bank of America Bike the Drive; Bike Chicago 2007
complete listing of events; the Chicago Bike Map; discounts at local bike
shops; and booklets about safe riding techniques for urban and
suburban traffic. The Chicagoland Bicycle Federation also hosts Bike to
Work Week commuter stations that offer refreshment and hospitality to
bicycle commuters in the city and suburbs.
Commuter Challenge winners are feted at a later date with an awards
luncheon.

The non-profit Chicagoland Bicycle Federation has worked for more
than 20 years to engage people in bicycling, encourage activity,
increase traffic safety, and design a world-class bicycle facilities
network. The Chicagoland Bicycle Federation is North America's largest
bicycling and pedestrian advocacy organization, supported by nearly
6,000 members, more than 1,000 volunteers and 35 full- and part-time
staff. For more information on the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation, visit
