Chicago Area Runners Association (CARA) to Seek New Executive Director
February 18, 2005 From press release.
The Chicago Area Runners Association (CARA) has
announced that is seeking to hire a new executive director to
replace David Patt, the outgoing executive director. Patt was
with CARA for 15 years and was instrumental in the creation
of several of its training programs and initiatives including
marathon training, retail partnerships and website
expansion. He also expanded sponsorship activities and
the association's role in advocating for safer running
environments. Patt is leaving the organization to pursue
other opportunities. The board of directors is looking for someone with a
minimum of 10 years marketing and association
management experience. CARA, the Midwest's largest
running organization, was founded more than 25 year ago to
serve the Chicago area running community. Since then it
has evolved into the runner's advocate resulting in
enhanced networking for recreational and competitive
runners. "David came along at a time when CARA needed a strong
administrative and fiscal manager who could direct the
Association," says Tom Moran, president, CARA board of
directors. "During his tenure, CARA doubled membership
and trained more than 20,000 runners for short and long
distance racing goals. The board appreciates his
dedicated
service." More details will be available from the Chicago Area
Runners Association. Anyone interested in the position can
send questions and/or resume to
