Costello and Wehrman cross tape together at Banco Popular Chicago Half Marathon

Chris Wehrman and Greg Costello ran side by side in the last 3 miles of
the Banco Popular Chicago Half Marathon on Sunday, Oct. 1. With
about 20 meters to go, they raised their arms, shaking their fists in
victory, and crossed the finish line together in 1:07:03.Costello was awarded the first place prize, his first time on the Banco
Popular Chicago Half Marathon podium. Fellow Chicago resident Chris
Wehrman won the Banco Popular Chicago Half Marathon in 2004 and
2002. Donnie Franzen of Chicago placed third in 1:07:38. All three men
are running the LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon on October 22 and
hope to run sub-2:22 to meet the men's Olympic Trials "B" standard. Stephanie Dueringer from Indianapolis won the women's competition in
1:18:01. Chicago's Jamie Krzyminski placed second in 1:19:23. More than 10,000 runners participated in the 13.1-mile race, which sold
out this year for the first time in its 10-year history. The weather was
sunny and crisp as runners ran from the Museum of Science and
Industry, around the boulevards and parks in Hyde Park, and on South
Lakeshore Drive. Click here for complete race results.
The Chicago Twisters cheer, dance and tumbling team cheered on
runners for the duration of the race.

Winner Greg Costello finished only slightly in front of Chris Wehrman.
Both Chicago runners completed the race in 1:07:03.
Jamie Krzyminski from Chicago (second place in 1:19:23) and winner
Stephanie Dueringer from Indianapolis (1:18:01) congratulate one
another after the race.
