The JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge, scheduled for
tonight at 7 p.m. in
Grant Park, has been cancelled due to the ongoing heat
wave. The City of Chicago has issued an excessive heat warning
and is encouraging
people to stay away from unnecessary outdoor activities.
WBBM-TV has
forecasted a late afternoon heat index of 105 with potentially
dangerous
thundershowers at race time.
As for rescheduling the race, Catherine Regina, the
registration coordinator for the race told Chicago's Amateur
Athlete, " We don't know for sure.
Rescheduling the race is dependent upon making
arrangements with the city for
another date. A decision will probably be made next week
and will
be posted on www.jpmorganchasecc.com."
Company teams that had entered the JPMorgan Chase
Corporate Challenge can
pickup their t-shirts today at Grant Park between the hours of
12-8 p.m.
T-shirts can also be picked up after the event by bringing in
your race
number to Lakeshore Athletic Services at 4508North
Milwaukee Avenue in
Chicago.
All of the company tent orders are set up. While there is no
race, your
company is still welcome to get together at your tent.
The JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge will increase its
donation to the
event beneficiary, the Golden Apple Foundation, due to the
cancellation.
For those teams who hoped to qualify for the JPMorgan
Chase Corporate
Challenge Championships in New York on October 6, there
will be more
