America's oldest running specialty store will soon christen
its latest retail location as Dick Pond Athletics will open its
seventh retail store in southwest suburban Crest Hill at
16133 Weber Road.
"We're excited to be entering this market and look forward
to building relationships with all of the area's runners. We're
enthusiastic about carrying forward the good Dick Pond
name and continuing to offer the best selection at prices all
under retail," said store co-owner Andy Remley.
Founded in 1969 by American Record Holder and NCAA
All-American Dick Pond, his namesake store has served the
international running community for over 35 years. Now with
over fifty employees and six retail locations in 2005, the Dick
Pond business has grown under the leadership of Lindy
Pond, who assumed ownership of her late husband's
company following his death.
"We're thrilled to be entering the Crest Hill area and
excited about this new endeavor," said Lindy Pond. "It's an
active area that's runner-friendly and accessible to all of our
loyal customers from the Southland and even Indiana."
The Crest Hill location will boast two knowledgeable
owners in Andy Remley and Dave Johnson, both former
standout runners at NCAA Division III power North Central
College and each bringing a wealth of experience and
expertise to the retail setting. In addition to carrying a full-line
of running specialty products from all the major
manufacturers, the Crest Hill store will also carry walking
shoes as well as wrestling shoes and equipment.
