THE SCOOP I
The Chicago Distance Classic 20K was won by Kenyan Daniel Cheruiyot and
South African Theresa Du Tuit. The redesigned course had lots of turns,

THE SCOOP II
In the second annual "Battle of the Sexes" at the Lifetime Fitness Triathlon
in Minneapolis on Saturday, Barb Lindquist of Victor, ID took home the top
prize money of $250,000, the largest payout ever in any triathlon. In the
event where the pro women were given a head start of 9 minutes, 41 seconds
over the men, Lindquist came in 43 seconds ahead of England's Simon Whit-
field. Lindquist completed the .75-mile swim, 21.3-mile bike ride and 4.7-mile
run in 1 hour, 35 minutes, 52 seconds. Whitfield was the men's Olympic gold
medalist at Sydney in 2000. For more details:click here.

The Arlington Classic Criterium's main events, the Category 1-2-3 races

The Chicago Triathlon Club is in the lead in the Mideast Regional Club Race
Series. Chicago Tri has 98 points, three ahead of the Ann Arbor (MI) Tri-
athlon Club and four ahead of northwest suburban Multisport Madness.
Chicago Triathlon Club won the MERCRS Trophy last year. Will they repeat?
Organizers of the Red Zone Duathlon in Woodstock on Sept. 28 have announced
that the event has been cancelled. It was part of the new Summer Tri Series.
