THE WEEKEND AHEAD
A few, and we mean a few spots remain in the Runner's High Ride N Tie race on Sunday at Busse Woods near Elk Grove. The same goes for Go Vertical: The Absolute Urban Climb for Cancer at the Sears Tower. The Health Bridge Fitness Center Indoor Triathlon in Crystal Lake is closed, but other events are wide open. They include Running Unlimited's Renegade Trail 10K at Deer Grove in Palatine on Saturday and the Rock N Sole Trail Challenge in Schiller Woods (Grove No. 2) and the Tinley Park Turkey Trot, both set for Sunday. Trips for Kids, a bike recycling program will kick off on Saturday, Nov. 22 at the Village Pedaler, 300 N. THE CLOSER
Congratulations to all of the area triathletes who completed Ironman Florida on Saturday in Panama City, FL. Top Illinois finishers were Kenneth Schreiber of Chicago, 11th in M30-34 with a 9:35:15, and Karen Grabowski of Niles, 5th in F25-29 with a 10:50:12. We also salute the York (Class AA) and Eureka (Class A) boys and the Barrington (Class AA) and Breese Mater Dei Class A) girls for their team titles Saturday at the state high school cross-country championships in Peoria.
