SCOOP

From the Chicago Sun-Times Sneed column this week:

"Cyclist Floyd Landis, Lance Armstrong's lieutenant in his 6th Tour de France victory, celebrated the end of the biking season with a group of 90 at EJ's Place in Skokie last week." Landis was the guest of Chicago's Robbie Ventura, a U.S. Postal Service teammate and founder of Vision Quest Training, at the VQ post season party. It was a fun night with a slide show and some great stories about The Tour and the US Pro Criterium Champs.

CLOSER

At the Berlin Marathon on September 26, elite Ethiopian runners Terefe Yae and Shimeles Molla passed at least 9,150 runners during the 26.2-mile race before finishing 26th and 27th, respectively, in 2:17:29 and 2:17:33. Somehow they entered the wrong section and had thousands of runners in front of them. Weaving through the crowds of runners at the start, they passed the first 5K in 19:11 and the 10K in 35:05. For the next two 5K sections they were timed with 15:10 and 15:14.
