2005 LAKEFRONT MARATHON
October 2, 2005 - Milwaukee, WI

On an unseasonably warm fall morning, Bob Cisler, 36, of Clarendon Hills, IL, won the 25th Annual Lakefront Marathon in Milwaukee, finishing the 26.2- mile course in 2:32:22. Cisler held off Joseph Kurian, 26, of Madison by some two minutes to win the 2005 event, which, for the first time, filled to capacity and saw over 2,500 runners and over 5,000 spectators throughout the course.
www.chicagoaa.com/ news/lakefrontmarathon05final.html

Here's a race report we received from Bob Cisler:
"Early in the race, I was running with a pack of four guys and we were clipping off 5:40 - 5:45 miles. The pace felt pretty comfortable, but two other runners had gone out hard and built up a sizeable lead by 8 miles. At around 9 miles, I decided to break away from the pack and try to catch the leaders. I caught one guy pretty quickly (around 10 miles) but the leader still had well over a minute gap on me. I slowly reeled him in and caught him at 16 miles where he stopped momentarily with stomach cramps. He put up a good fight over the next few miles, but I was able to finally pull away from him at around the 20-mile mark. The last 10K was just a matter of maintaining my pace and enjoying the approach to the finish line."
