Chicago Athlete Express eNewsletter
January 14, 2005

Welcome to the Chicago Athlete Express.
Great Information. Quick Read.

QUOTE

"I once read that a good first marathon is a temptress for future marathons, and I think that's accurate. Although I have little to no desire to train for another at the present time, I know there are more marathons and better results to come."

---Chicago Athlete's Jeremy Borling on his experience at the 2005 Walt Disney Marathon.

THE SCOOP

Share Your Soles is a local nonprofit organization that collects gently used running shoes (sandals & work boots are also welcome) that are then cleaned and distributed to needy children and people worldwide. We spoke to founder Mona Purdy yesterday, who was ecstatic because she had just received a call from Fed Ex saying they would help out by sending shipments anywhere needed free of charge. Purdy said they have collection boxes at many specialty running shops in the suburbs and city. Fleet Feet Sports is having a special collection drive this weekend for the next shipment going to Tsunami survivors in Sri Lanka. For more information, check out www.shareyoursoles.org.

Here's a list of Share Your Soles drop off sites per their Web site:
