MISSING PARTS IN ACTION
Running is a choice. And as a sport, it is accessible to more adults than
many
other athletic pursuits. Rejoice in your achievement. Every workout is
one
more
step toward a healthy lifestyle. At the Army Ten Miler press conference
last
October, one member of the "Missing Parts in Action" team explained
that a
lost
limb doesn't make running impossible. (Running might be more feasible
than
golf or
tennis.) Soldiers seeking to return to a normal lifestyle after devastating
wounds
suffered in Iraq or Afghanistan find that running provides a viable means
of
escape from a couch potato lifestyle. So if jogging seems a chore,
remember
the
grit of those battle-tested soldiers

NORTHERN ILLINOIS NORDIC
The Northern Illinois Nordic is postponed until Saturday, Jan. 28. Mild
conditions
(55 today), snow not being a sure thing tomorrow night, especially on
thawed
ground, and impossible last-minute logistical challenges all went into
the
decision. Hope for snow next week.---Bob Richards, race director
