HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT ESPN'S COVERAGE OF THE
REEBOK BOSTON INDOOR GAMES?
Victor Sailer, a national running and track & field photographer, is
calling on
track fans to voice your opinions. Here's a message he left on the
Running
Network Message Board which is from a letter he sent to USATF
regarding last
weekend's Reebok Boston Indoor games coverage:
How are we to spread the great word of track and field in America? Well
certainly
not by the television program I just witnessed in shock . . . I think we
should
all be shocked and totally dismayed by a tape delayed show. . . this was
not live
TV . . . but taped and they royally blew it . . . I feel bad for the meet
organizers, sponsors, USATF and the fans who saw one of the greatest
indoor track
meets of all time. I think we all waited to see the great WR of a World
Champion
and Olympic Medalist . . . time alotted ONE minute.
The second fastest woman's 3K of all time . . . Zero, the big goose egg,
not one
second, especially when it could have been another WR, but the
Olympic Champion
had to run around woman she had lapped!
In the first 23 minutes, we witnessed one 400m and one 200m race!
In your wildest dreams, do you think the TV station broadcasting the
Super Bowl
would do a commentary on drugs during the game itself?
Did they watch the high school races? Both races had great moves in
the last
150m, ESPN showed the last 100 meters . . . and they allotted 3 minutes
to the
Men's 60m.
I truly hope that this issue is addressed. As a track addict like the rest of
you
. . . I am totally disguised. If you were as upset as I, here's a link to voice
your opinions:
