FORMER CHICAGO BEAR WILLIE GAULT POSTS U.S. MASTERS RECORD

Former NFL wide receiver Willie Gault set a new American masters record in the 100 meters Saturday at the Occidental Invitational near Los Angeles. Gault, 44, finished the race in 10.73 seconds, bettering the previous record of 10.87 by 1972 Olympian Eddie Hart set in 1989. For complete results:

EXTREME OUTFITTERS DINO MOUNTAIN BIKE SERIES

The Extreme Outfitters DINO Mountain Bike Series opener was part of the Northern Indiana Fat & Skinny Tire Festival on April 30. Over 220 riders total hit the trail for the DINO event.

Jean-Luc Serriere was the overall winner, and defending champ David Wagoner was passed by Don Galligher (Fort Wayne, IN) for second. Jeremy Rodriguez of Team Wisconsin followed Wagoner in for fourth overall.

The Expert Women's field was topped by two riders, Sara Stanford (Plainfield, IL) and Lori Sable (WI). Defending series champ Heather Randolph earned third place. This year's Expert Women received $100 for first, $50 for second, and $25 for third.

The Sport Open Wave was won by Dan Prater, chased in by Chad Wright. Michael Cook came from the 19-29 wave to finish with the third fastest overall time. Ellen Sauter (Powell, OH) and Rhonda Stevens (Champaign, IL) were first and second in the Sport Women's field.

GET A JUMP ON PHYSICAL FITNESS, MAY 17

Chicago Moves Day is coming up! Visit Daley Plaza for a couple fitness filled hours on Tuesday, May 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., or give any Chicago Park District fitness center a try - at no charge on the 17th. The Mayor's Fitness Council is encouraging Chicago residents of all ages to spend at least 20 minutes engaging in physical activity. From kickboxing to yoga, the Chicago Park District as well as other partners, host free activities on this day to get your heart pumping and muscles moving. Chicago Park District fitness classes will also be available at no charge on Chicago Moves Day.

ESPN MOVIE 'FOUR MINUTES' ANNOUNCES ACTORS

ESPN is working on a movie about Roger Bannister's breaking of the four-minute barrier in the mile. "Four Minutes" will star Christopher Plummer ("A Beautiful Mind," "The Sound of Music") as track coach Archie Mason. British actor Jamie MacLachlan, whose credits are mostly in theater, will play Bannister. Long-time Sports Illustrated writer and NPR commentator Frank Deford penned the script, and Olympic documentarian Bud Greenspan is among the executive producers.

WEEKEND WARRIORS UNITE AT 2005 KRAMER GAMES CHICAGO

It was really just an excuse for a bunch of college buddies to get away for a weekend and play the sports they loved. After 10 years of reuniting, Kramer, a nickname for ex-athlete James Breitbeil, and Casey Fisk, son of baseball Hall of Famer Carlton Fisk, have announced The Kramer Games will take place in the Chicagoland area from June 2005 through September 2005. Teams of four will compete in five separate "mini" tournaments: an 18-hole golf scramble, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, a 3-point shooting competition, a 16-inch softball home run derby, and a no-limit Texas Hold 'Em tournament.

LAKESHORE MARATHON ADDS NAVY PIER TO MARATHON COURSE

The Lakeshore Marathon announced that it has received approval to add Navy Pier to its May 30 Marathon and Half-Marathon courses. In addition to Navy Pier, the marathon course visits the Lincoln Park Zoo, and Chicago landmarks including Burnham Harbor, Soldier Field, McCormick Place, the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, and the Museum Campus, home to the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium and Adler Planetarium.
