NEW YORK, NY - July 10
1500m Swim; 40K bike; 10K Run
Jarrod Shoemaker, from Sudbury, MA, who won the 2004 Ford New
York City Triathlon
as an age grouper, came back as an elite and defeated two Olympians
on Sunday to
win the 2005 Ford New York City Triathlon presented by Accenture.
Finishing 32
overall in the elite division was Chicagoan Brian Hague, 20, who
completed the
course in 1:58:12 (16:54 swim; 1:00:53 bike; 39:31 run). Oak Park's
Jennifer
Schlife, 32, finished 2nd in her age group with a time of 2:24:04 (16:38
swim;
1:15:36 bike; 45:49 run).

Here's the scoop on the American Cancer Society's Charity Runner
Program. Last
year, the Charity Runner program raised nearly $530,000 and 91
percent of all
donations went back to fund four major areas, Cancer Research,
Education,
Advocacy, and Patient Services, while a minimal 9 percent went back to
fund the

CHICAGO HALF MARATHON EXPECTS RECORD FIELD OF OVER
9,000 RUNNERS
The Chicago Half Marathon, set for Sunday, September 25, is expecting
more than
9,000 runners to step off at the Museum of Science and Industry's start/
finish
line. The 13.1 mile course winds through Jackson Park, the historic
University of
Chicago campus in the Hyde Park community and continues along
south Lake Shore.
