CYCLISTS ON THE SPIN

As Armstrong captured an unprecedented seventh Tour de France title, the women's International Tour de' Toona (Altoon, PA) started Monday, July 25, with cyclists taking their marks. This is the second season of this women-only cycling race where the top 10 teams can receive travel grants, enabling them to participate in the series finale at the CD&P Bermuda Grand Prix.

LOCAL CYCLIST NAMED TO JUNIOR WORLD TEAM

USA Cycling announced nominations for the 2005 UCI Junior Road and Track World Championships August 7-14 in Vienna/Oberwart, Austria. In women's track events, Natalie Klemko (Bristol, WI) earned a discretionary pick after a solid performance at the national championships resulted in a win in the Keirin and a silver medal in the Individual Pursuit.

BADGER STATE GAMES SENDS 280 ATHLETES TO STATE GAMES OF AMERICA

Two hundred eighty medal winners from the Badger State Games will make their way to Colorado Springs July 28-31 to compete in the State Games of America. Some 9,000 athletes are expected to participate in the SGA with competition taking place in 24 sports. Wisconsin will post the fourth highest ranking in number of athletes representing their state.
