Fleet Feet Sports is sponsoring the 2nd Annual Invitational 1 Mile Event, which will be staged on Saturday, Sept. 6, at Concordia University's track, 7400 Augusta St., River Forest, IL. The mile will follow the 6th Annual Oak Park and River Forest Community Classic 5K Run/Walk.

Twelve men and 12 women will be invited to this event. The purse is valued at $1,500. Prize money will go 1st through 3rd place.

Do you think that you have all of the right stuff to compete with top athletes in Illinois? This race is by invitation only. If you think you can compete in this mile event, please contact event coordinator Gregory Evans. In addition, running stores can make recommendations to have their athletes represented.

Athletes do not have to pay to participate and are eligible for cash and/or a combination of cash and merchandise.

Last year, eight men and four women competed. Winners were Jeremy Parks in 4:18 and Lisa Menninger in 5:15.
