Lakefront 10-Miler Changes Date to April 26
March 2003
Chicago Athlete

The Lakefront 10-Miler has changed its race date to Saturday, April 26 from the original date of Sunday, April. 27. Repeat. The race is on Saturday, April 26 at 8 a.m.!

Paul Peters, owner of Universal Sole, which produces the race, said he was approached by the city about making the change and agreed to do so.

"I guess with some of the changes City Hall has been putting into effect, this is one of the results," Peters said.

David Kennedy of the Mayor's Office of Special Events told Peters that although his race required only 16 police officers, two other Sunday morning events, a March of Dimes Walk and the Ravenswood 5K, would require 60 and 40 officers respectively.

Peters said he already has received positive reaction from runners to the Saturday date.

"If it works out, we're going to keep it on Saturday," he said.

The race starts and finishes at Montrose Harbor. Registration is limited to 3,250 runners, and a discounted fee is available with on-line registration through March 30. For more information, call 773-868-0893, or go to www.universalsole.com
