October 2, 2005 (Milwaukee, WI) - On an unseasonably
warm fall morning, Bob Cisler, 36, of Clarendon Hills,
IL, won the 25th Annual Lakefront Marathon in
Milwaukee, finishing the 26.2 mile course in 2 hours, 32
minutes and 22 seconds. Cisler held off Joseph Kurian, 26,
of Madison by some 2 minutes to win the 2005 event, which,
for the first time, filled to capacity and saw over 2,500
runners and over 5,000 spectators throughout the course.
2004 defending champ Shane Carr finished fourth with a
time of 2:38:06.The women's race was won by Meghan Macardy, 23, from
La Crosse, WI, who finished the course in three
hours, three minutes aned six seconds narrowly holding off
2nd place winner Ann Stokman-Zimmerman , 35, from Oak
Creek, WI. Throughout the morning, more than 2400 runners and 140
relay teams competed on a balmy, sunny morning along the
shores of Lake Michigan. Course organizers were thrilled
with the race. "For our 25th straight year, we were able to have a great
race, and we hope everyone enjoyed it" said Kris Hinrichs,
race director of Lakefront Marathon. "As we grow, we still
want this run to be about the runners, which is where it
started over 25 years ago. A great day for a run and we hope
everyone comes back next year." The 2006 Lakefront Marathon is scheduled for October 1,
2006, beginning at 8 am in Grafton. Registration will be
available on www.badgerlandstriders.org/lakefront in early
January.
