Coaching Legends Arthur Lydiard & Joe Newton to speak in Schaumburg

Arthur Lydiard, "Coach of the 20th Century," with Joe
Newton, the
legendary cross country coach of York High School
(Elmhurst, Ill.,) will
appear in what could be Lydiard's last U.S. Tour, 7 p.m.
Saturday, Oct.
30,
2004 at Schaumburg High School.Lydiard, from New Zealand, is promoting his new
foundation and book.
The
presentation will include a 20-minute video of some of the
great
distance
runners he has helped train, including Peter Snell and
Lasse Viren.
There
will also be a power point
presentation on the Lydiard training method, which will be
followed by a
question and answer session. The Lydiard Lecture is scheduled to take place in Room
200, a 150-seat
lecture
hall at Schaumburg High School. Admission: $10 cash A limited number of books will be available for $25, which
Lydiard will
sign. Overnight stays available at the Schaumburg Marriott, meet
headquarters for
the
USA Track & Field Junior Olympics National Cross Country
Championships. This event is sanctioned by USA Track & Field Illinois
Association and
made
