PORTLAND, OR---The Mi adidas Running Customization Tour continues its US Tour this week at the Naperville Running company in Naperville, IL (October 8th - 12th).

In a continuing effort to address the differing needs of runners' across the country, adidas has launched a US tour of its custom running shoe experience. Introduced to runners in the US at the 2002 Chicago Marathon and again at the 2003 Boston Marathon, the project called mi adidas gives running consumers the opportunity to create their own unique footwear to their exact personal specifications in terms of function, fit and esthetics.

How It Works
The fitting process takes between 25 and 30 minutes, in which the runner strides across a sensor pad in the booth that uses 4,000 points to measure biomechanical specifics of the footstrike. This footscanTM machine creates a pressure map in the form of a color-coded footprint which will then be evaluated by adidas running experts. The digital software in the footscanTM takes more than 400 impressions per second. This information, combined with personal fit preferences, surface usage, and amount of support creates a unique pair of shoes for each running consumer.

Runners can choose a base adidas running model to start with, either the Supernova or adiStar. From there they choose from a variety of widths, levels of support, outsoles (cushion, stability or trail) and color combinations. As a personal touch, runners can choose up to 8 characters of embroidery on the tongue of the shoe. After the customization data is received, shoes arrive in three weeks. The cost of this customized shoe is on average 40% more than the standard model.
