Introducing Our New Name - Chicago Athlete
By Bob Richards Sept. 13, 2001 Editor, Chicago Athlete
Effective today, on this Web site and with the October issue
of the magazine, we've changed our name to Chicago
Athlete. Everything we do is for you and about you, and we
think the new name reflects how we feel about the active
sports participants we serve in the Chicago area. The new name is less cumbersome and gets right to the
point of who you are better than our previous title did. In our
eyes, if you're a
runner, track & field athlete, triathlete, road cyclist, mountain
biker, swimmer,
walker, cross-country skier, snowshoer, health club visitor,
or anything else close, you are a Chicago Athlete, pure and
simple. We like the sound and look of the new title, and hope you
get comfortable with Chicago Athlete right away. Look at it
this way - no more apostrophe "s" and no more worries
about misspelling "amateur." We're always looking out for
our readers and Web site visitors! I know a lot of you have known us in our Chicago's Amateur
Athlete days as "Amateur Athlete" or "C.A.A." I don't think it
will take you long to think of us as "C.A." For those who
really like the "double-A," our Web site address will remain
the same - www.chicagoAA.com. With all that said, there's only one thing more to say. At C.A.,
we're with you all the way.
