This Year I Will . . . How to Keep Your New Year's Fitness Resolution
December 31, 2003
From press release

CHICAGO (Dec. 30, 2003) - According to www.mygoals.com, health and fitness is expected to claim the title as the most popular category of 2004 New Year's resolutions. Twenty-two percent of those who have been polled listed fitness as their top resolution.

Although most people start exercising with the best of intentions, after a month or two they begin to trickle off and eventually stop working out. Here are a few tips from Lakeshore Athletic Club (LAC) on how to stick to your workout so that you can become more fit and healthy in the New Year:

* Don't do the same activity each time you workout.
"Mix up your workout routine," said Kelly Nyhan, group fitness director, LAC. "Repetition leads to boredom. When you workout don't just ride a bike, go for a jog or take a swim. There are so many other things you can do to achieve the same results."

* Try different classes.
"Most health clubs offer a variety of different classes that can be a lot of fun," said Nyhan. "Classes allow you to incorporate a variety of different activities into your workout. Yoga, kickboxing and belly dancing are just a few examples of different classes you can take."

* Work out with your friends.
Working out can be a social activity. When you begin a new fitness routine try to make it something you can do with your friends. This will not only make working out more fun, but your friends can also motivate you to work towards your resolution!
