From press release June 27, 2007 Chicago Athlete
Registration open now for new July 14 race
On Saturday, July 14, the Chicago White Sox will host more than 5,000
runners at the first ever Nike+ Rock 'N Run 5K race.
The race will kick off 8 a.m. at the site of the former home plate at Old
Comiskey Park (Parking Lot B). Participants will then run through a
number of Chicago's South Side neighborhoods and close with a
spectacular finish inside U.S. Cellular Field. A post-race concert is
scheduled inside the ballpark, along with appearances by former
players.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit Chicago White Sox Charities
(CWSC), the organization's philanthropic arm. CWSC provides annual
financial, in-kind and emotional support to hundreds of Chicago-based
organizations, including those leading the fight against cancer or
dedicated to improving the lives of Chicago's youth through education
and athletics.
Race registration cost $35 and includes an official Nike Dri-FIT race t-
shirt, and a pass into the stadium for a guest to greet runners after they
cross the finish line. Registration opens on Monday, June 11 and will
be limited to approximately 5,000 participants of all ages. Runners are
encouraged to register early to ensure their spot in the race.
