Chicago Set to Rock the Final Stop of Nike's Run Hit Wonder Tour
September 21, 2004
From Press Release

The highly anticipated Nike Run Hit Wonder race, featuring iconic bands of the past, will make its Chicago debut on September 23 at 8 p.m. The limit of 10,000 runners have registered to participate in the 5K/ 10K race as they make their way through Grant Park to the sounds of DEVO and their hit single "Whip It," A Flock of Seagulls' "I Ran," Tone- Loc's "Wild Thing" and Tommy Tutone's "867-5309/Jenny."

Nike's Run Hit Wonder race also supports youth organizations within the community. Nike's community affairs initiative, NikeGO, is motivating kids to remain active by allowing young runners from the Chicago Park District a chance to run free in the races. NikeGo has waived the registration fees of 500 younger runners and donated $50,000 worth of Nike product.

Also joining the Run Hit Wonder tour is Gibson Guitars who will be presenting the winners of the men's and women's 5K/10K races with custom made Run Hit Wonder Gibson guitars.

Additional bands include General Public and Nike's own Run Hit Wonders band, and the Master of Ceremonies will be American Idol's Randy Jackson. A post race concert by Devo begins at 9:10 in Grant Park.
