Runner's Edge Snowshoe Run & Walk Feb. 22
From press release
February 10, 2004
Chicago Athlete

The Runner's Edge Snowshoe run and walk has been scheduled for 9:30 a.m., Sunday Feb. 22. The race will start at Shelter "A" in The Half Day Woods Preserve (one mile north of Route 22) on Milwaukee Ave. in Lincolnshire.

"The course is a flat 2.5 miles out and back along the Des Plaines River Trail," said Runner's Edge owner Bob Klein. "The event has been put on by The Runner's Edge for four out of the last six years. The last two years were cancelled due to a lack of snow.

"As always, we enjoy doing the event for a fun and different winter activity. We moved the race to a later date in February to maybe get a chance at some more snow. We may have caught a break this year."

The Runner's Edge will have a limited number of rental snowshoes from Redfeather for snowshoers to rent. No snowshoes will be reserved. They will be rented out on a first-come first-serve basis. Registration for the event will be done on race day from8:30 to 9:15 a.m.. Registration fees are:$15 (no snowshoe rental) -- cash only; $20 (with rental if available) - cash only.

The event will be timed but no awards will be given. Shoers will served hot chocolate, energy bars and water (maybe frozen).

For more information, contact either of the Runner's Edge stores: Wilmette 847-853-8531, Libertyville 847-549-1108.
