Feet Fleet sports Soldier Field 10 registration closed
From press release Updated April 4, 2007 Chicago Athlete
Despite an increased participant capacity of 5,500, up from 3,500 in
2006, the Fleet Feet Sports Soldier Field 10 Mile presented by Nike
reached capacity yesterday, more than a month in advance of the May
26
race. Registration for the 2-Mile Fitness Walk and the Kids Sprints
remains open.
New to the event this year, Fleet Feet Sports will make a very limited
number of entries available in late April as a fundraiser for our
charity partners. Details on how to apply for these entries will be made
available via the Fleet Feet Sports website in the coming weeks.
The fundraiser will benefit the Veteran's Assistance Commission of
Cook County and the FitMatters Program at LaRabida Children's
Hospital.
The Veterans Assistance Commission promotes and protects the rights
of
veterans and their immediate family members through education,
communications, and technology.
FitMatters participants and their families learn how to overcome the
biological and psychological forces that can make permanent weight
control so difficult. They receive education and support that enables
them to enhance self-awareness, stress management and positive
focusing
skills.
Although registration for the 10-Mile Race is closed, there are
numerous ways runners and non-runners can still be part of the
excitement that surrounds race weekend. The 2 Mile Walk
(non-competitive) - which remains open -- takes place on the grounds
surrounding Soldier Field. In addition, a limited number of spots remain
for the Kids Sprint, which allows children the opportunity to finish on
Soldier Field. Finally, volunteers are always needed to help make the
race a success. Those individuals interested in volunteering should
contact volunteer@fleetfeetchicago.com.
