The Soldier Field 10 Mile - Registration to Close Wednesday, May 26

Runners finish on the 50-yard line of Soldier Field

CHICAGO, IL--(May 25, 2004)-- Due to the overwhelming response to the Soldier Field 10 Mile and the capacity of the course, race management announced today that they will close on-line registration at 8 p.m. on Wed., May 26th or when the race reaches the capacity of 2,400 participants.

At that point, limited in- person registration will be available at Fleet Feet Sports on the following days until the race reaches its capacity:
* Tue, May 25; 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. at 4555 N. Lincoln Ave.
* Wed, May 26; 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. at 4555 N. Lincoln Ave.
* Thur, May 27; 10 a.m.-8 p.m. at 210 W. North Ave.
* Fri, May 28; 10 a.m.-8 p.m. at 210 W. North Ave.

Also, due to the number of participants, this race will now be a CHAMPIONCHIP timed race. Chip pick-up will be available on RACE DAY only from 6 a.m. to 7a.m at the race site.

There will be NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION. Packet pick-up and CHIP pick-up will be available from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and the race will start at 7:30a.m.

Come out for your chance to finish like the pros, right on the field! This inaugural race offers a unique opportunity for runners and spectators alike to enjoy the lakefront and the new Soldier Field.

Spectators will have the opportunity to sit in the stands and watch their friends and family cross the finish line. Finishers will have the opportunity to watch themselves finish on the JumboTron located in the South End Zone. The finishers will also be broadcast on Soldier Field closed circuit Television.

Post race activities will include music and tasty treats from sponsors: Flat Top Grill, Sweet Occasions and Whole Foods.

Proceeds benefit the Cook County Veteran's Assistance Commission which promotes and protects the rights of veterans and their immediate family members through education, communications, and technology.
